“The title implies the feeling I was after and I also had a bit of fun with word associations with the title.  The challenge with this piece completely lied within the composition and having the cat coming toward you while still seeing the back end of it.  It took me several months of pondering but it finally occurred to me to darken the cat’s rump, as if it were emerging out of the shadow.  This keeps your eye from drifting up to the top of the piece and holds your eye on the head of the  cat.”
